Retrieving files from a flash drive

You can literally carry the entire office on a flash drive. Worriedabout recovering data in a flash drive in case the files get corrupted?A simple hardware tweak such as this is really helpful if any data islost due to corrupted files. However,why pay for software if you can easily recover all the data with asimple hardware tweak?!



This tweak is quite easy and simple to perform; even a n00b can retrieve files from USB flash drives by following a few easy steps.

Go to the ‘Start Menu’ and click the ‘Run’ command.

 

In the run dialog box, type ‘cmd’ to open the ‘Command Prompt’ window.

Enter the text ‘chkdsk’ in the black window of ‘Command Prompt’. Then enter the name of the drive/removable disk such as ‘F’ followed by slash and r. for instance ‘chkdsk f:/r’.



This command will start checking for abnormalities in the USB flash drive and restore all the corrupted readable files on the flash drive as best as it can. Once you get the files you want to repair from your flash drive, click ‘Y’ to save the lost files when the command prompt asks. Now go to ‘My Computer’ and check the repaired files from the flash drive in the list of retrieved files.

 

With the help of this little system tweak, you can recover the all the corrupted files from a flash drive in less than a few minutes!
